Using games efficiently in the primary classroom
Children love playing games. That is why we use games when we teach our pupils. But
sometimes the games we use have very little effect. In this seminar we will look at
how we can use games to teach and mainly to practice the language we have taught. We
will see how to play games efficiently so that the children learn a lot through
seeing, hearing, touching and imitating.

Authentic English in the classroom
Language learners can benefit from regular exposure to authentic language from the
earliest stages of learning. Video is perhaps the best medium for achieving this. We
will demonstrate some principles of authentic video materials selection and task
design that enable learners to interact with the material and the language in a way
that is meaningful, enjoyable and motivating.

Lecturer
Renee Selikowitz has been working for the British Council in Prague since 2010.
She’s worked as a senior teacher, responsible for observations, mentoring, training
and resource development, taught marketing and financial English at a private
university, and worked as a TEFL trainer. She is also an examiner for the Cambridge
exams.
